Reaching for the Summit
President of AOPA, Craig Fuller has rejuvenated our annual meeting and that time of year is coming around again! Long Beach, California will see the AOPA show roll into town from November 11 – 13 and it seems sure to be a great conference. Since I took on the role of Medical Counsel, AOPA has launched monthly articles in AOPA Pilot, the Medical Services Program and included health and wellness content at various symposia. Now the plan is to include more such material at Summit and as I am designing this with my good friends in Frederick, I would like to ask for your input.
Currently the plan is to have three morning plenary “Fly Well” sessions at 8am, each focused on a health or wellness topics. We are talking to some superb guests who will add sizzle to the discussion and our goal is to keep you healthy and keep you flying! Additionally, we are looking at some AOPA Live discussions and mini-presentations in the health pavilion.
I would like to hear from you what topics would grab your attention and ensure you come along. Would you welcome the chance to “ask the doctor?” Please send me an e-mail with your thoughts.
There is also going to be a fabulous dinner aboard the Queen Mary (I had the joy of sailing on this fine old ship when I was a lad) on Saturday, November 13 at which there will be an exciting auction to raise money for our Foundation – so put that in your diary also and register for the best aviation show in the USA.
