AOPA member recoups his dues payment
David Strother joined AOPA in 1961 after earning his pilot certificate. When he paid his $45 dues this year, he had no idea that it was going to turn out to be such a savvy investment.
Recently he checked into a car rental with Hertz and was told that the entire rental would cost $958. Nothing remarkable about that, until you know that with his AOPA discount, the rental cost dropped to $794.
“I went back and checked the rates with a couple of other rental car companies and Hertz beat them hands down,” says Strother. “It astounded me how much I saved.”
In terms of getting his money’s worth from his AOPA dues, Strother has done it. He says, “I’ll pay $45 any day to save $164.”
Based in Austin, Texas, Strother is currently in the market to buy an airplane. He’s reviewing his options, but he can be certain that his AOPA membership will continue to reap benefits for him in every aspect of his flying activities as well as in his aviation lifestyle.
