50/50 Flight for Life Update
James Oliphant, account manager II Delta Team, has continued the planning for his upcoming 50th birthday flight. James is calling it the 50/50 Flight for Life and has been accepting donations for his team as part of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life program.
As part of the planning, James has three different routes around Kansas chosen. “I needed to take into account weather and winds in the state during the flight. My preferred route is the western Kansas route as it has longer runways and they are closer together,” says James.
James has been out practicing parts of his route to check times enroute, airport conditions and just landing practice. Initial numbers are for over 1100NM and nine-plus hours of flying; all without ever leaving the state of Kansas!
Accompanying James on the Flight for Life will be Phil Wiens, close friend and flying buddy. “His biggest job is to make sure I always have the gear down and to check XM weather,” says James.
If you would like to help James reach his goal, click here to donate. James says, “I’ve really appreciated all the members and insured support and words of encouragement on this big milestone project. Thank you all!”
