AOPA Pilot and AOPA Flight Training Now Available Digitally
Digital, Print, or Both? Now it’s your choice
AOPA members now have a choice as to how they want to read their membership magazines. Both AOPA Pilot and Flight Training are offered in print and digital versions. You make the choice – and you can even choose to access the magazines both ways.
Digital editions allow readers to access their magazines online or through any number of devices, including desktop and laptop computers, digital readers such as tablet computers such as the iPad, and smartphones such as the iPhone and Blackberry. “Now your magazine is just a click away no matter where you are,” says Tom Haines, AOPA Senior Vice President, Publications. Many articles in the digital editions will have embedded videos as well as bonuses such as podcasts, quizzes, polls, animation and other interactive features.
Digital editions of AOPA Pilot are available starting with the February 2011 issue and digital editions of Flight Training will be available starting with the March 2011 issue. “The digital edition is a new way to enjoy your favorite magazine,” says Haines.
In the digital editions, members will be able to comment on and share articles with others. All Internet links included in articles will be “live,” so readers can click the link and go directly to the website. And if readers see an ad for a product they’re interested in, in many cases they will be able to simply tap the ad and go directly to the advertiser’s website.
“While we frequently get requests for digital editions from members, we recognize that an electronic magazine is not going to be for everybody,” says Haines. “But for those who make the leap, we think it opens up an amazing realm of possibilities.”
If you’re happy with your current print edition, do nothing and you will continue to receive your magazine uninterrupted. You can switch to a digital edition for no cost or add the digital edition to your print edition at the discounted rate of $10 a year. “We’re excited about adding digital editions, and think our readers will be, too,” says Haines.
