AOPA FlyQ - Powerful, easy to use, and free
AOPA has always been committed to providing superior value to our members for their annual membership dues, and the release of the new AOPA FlyQ iPhone App is an ideal example of this. Providing airport directory information, aviation weather and flight planning with auto-routing capability, this powerful app is available to AOPA member at no cost. Amazing.
AOPA FlyQ is the first release in a series of upcoming digital flight planning tools for AOPA members. As each new FlyQ product is released, it will sync pilot and aircraft profiles and saved flight plans between all available devices. AOPA FlyQ is currently only available for the iPhone, but an Android version is currently in development and slated for release later this month.
For airport directory information, AOPA FlyQ uses your phone’s GPS to determine the airports that are closest to you. Tap the airport you want and the information you need pops up. You’ll see radio frequencies, satellite views, Doppler weather maps and so much more in easy-to-use and easy-to-see formats. You can also find airport services from this section.
Under the Weather tab, you’ll see local, regional, and national radar. Dig deeper into the gallery tab and find the weather charts to help plan your flight. The galleries give you current and forecasted conditions. If you need to know about it before takeoff, AOPA FlyQ has it in this gallery.
AOPA FlyQ takes the hassle out of flight planning with smart auto-routing functionality. The app delivers the most efficient flight plan by optimizing for forecast winds aloft. Once you finalize your flight planning criteria, you’ll receive your flight plan and a legal DUAT weather briefing. Then file your flight plan with the touch of a button.
Powerful, easy to use, and free. AOPA FlyQ makes flight planning on the go simple. Download your free copy today at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/aopa-flyq/id511107467?ls=1&mt=8&cmp=FQ:iPCS or visit http://www.aopa.org/flyq for more information.
