Go Flying
Inspire Others to Fly
Share the joy of flight with someone—he or she just might get hooked on aviation and decide to become a pilot. If you’ve taken friends or family members on their first flight, you probably reveled in that magical moment when they gasped at the bird’s-eye view of their town or house. With some encouragement from you and an understanding of the safety and utility of flying, those passengers sometimes decide to learn to fly to get that spectacular view whenever they want.
Fanning the dream
If you know someone who looks up every time he or she hears an airplane overhead, you know that person has a passion for aviation. Help friends learn more about the joys of flying and give them some resources for taking an introductory flight with AOPA’s Let’s Go Flying initiative. The Web site includes inspirational articles, links to different types of training aircraft, and a flight school database.
Getting started
Give someone interested in or already in flight training a boost. AOPA offers a free-six month membership to students pilots that includes six free issues of Flight Training magazine and access to Flight Training Online and the weekly e-mail newsletter ePilot Flight Training Edition. Each resource is filled with information designed to help the student pilot through the training process from pre-solo to checkride. An “Invitation to Fly Guide,” aviation decals, and a monthly e-mail newsletter about the joy of flight and how to get started are available through the Let’s Go Flying Web site.
