FreeFlight offers ADS-B Out transponder for FL180 and above
NextGen avionics manufacturer FreeFlight Systems introduced an Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out Mode S transponder for flights in Class A airspace at Heli-Expo in Las Vegas March 5. The RANGR FDL-1090-TX is “a compact, high-performance Mode S 1090MHz extended squitter (1090ES) transponder that pairs with a WAAS/GPS to make a rule-compliant ADS-B Out installation in aircraft operating in Class A airspace.” Operators can add a FreeFlight Systems 978MHz receiver for ADS-B datalink services such as weather and traffic. The RANGR FDL-1090-TX costs $3,995 alone or $6,570 bundled with the company’s 1201 WAAS/GPS and GPS antenna, FreeFlight said.
