Just Added to AOPA Foundation’s A Night for Flight Online Auction:
New Cessna Skyhawk, Round of Golf & Dinner with Ken Griffey, Jr.
The list of amazing items up for bid in the AOPA Foundation’s A Night for Flight online auction continues to grow. Just added, an opportunity to purchase a brand new Cessna 172 Skyhawk SP at a substantial discount, and a chance for two to play a round of golf and then have dinner with baseball legend Ken Griffey, Jr., and Cirrus Aircraft President and CEO Brent Wouters.
To show its support for the AOPA Foundation, Cessna has donated the right to purchase a new 2011 Cessna Model 172 Skyhawk SP that has approximately 90 total demo hours and features Garmin G1000® avionics. The basic list price is $307,500, but bidding opens more than $30,000 lower, at $275,000. The value of the difference between the final winning bid and the discounted cost of the basic aircraft will be donated to the Foundation. The images on the auction website are of the actual aircraft up for auction.
Cirrus Aircraft has arranged and donated a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that’s sure to appeal to golfers and baseball fans alike. The successful bidder and a friend will get to play a round of golf with Ken Griffey, Jr., fifth on the career home run list and winner of 10 Golden Glove awards, and Cirrus President Brent Wouters at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club, an unparalleled 18-hole championship course in Orlando, Fla., originally designed by Arnold Palmer. This course offers both a fine game and a fantastic challenge, and was recently named the toughest and longest course in the state by the Florida State Golf Association. Afterward, the foursome will dine at Morton’s Steakhouse, one of the first restaurants to open on Orlando’s famed "Restaurant Row."
Other once-in-a-lifetime experiences up for bid include the chance to have lunch and go flying with pilot and actor Harrison Ford, and a day flying with aerobatic legend Sean D. Tucker.
All of the proceeds from the auction go to support the efforts of the AOPA Foundation to protect America’s airports, promote air safety, expand the pilot population, and enhance the image of general aviation. Be sure to register then check the A Night for Flight auction web pages frequently, as new items are being added constantly.
