Frederick, MD – Mr. James N. Hauslein has been named to the Board of Trustees for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

“We are delighted to have someone with Jim’s aviation experience and business acumen join AOPA’s Board of Trustees. I think he is a great addition to an already strong board, and his expertise will be a great asset for our mission,” said Board of Trustees Chairman William Trimble.

Hauslein currently serves as managing director of Hauslein & Company, Inc., a private equity firm. From 1991 to 2001, he served as Chairman of the Board and CEO for Sunglass Hut International, Inc., the world's largest specialty retailer of branded non-prescription sunglasses and lifestyle watches, with nearly 2,000 company owned stores in more than 18 countries worldwide.

Under Hauslein’s leadership, from 1987 through 2001, Sunglass Hut grew from approximately $23 million in revenue to more than $725 million, and from just under 100 stores to approximately 2,000 company owned stores throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Sunglass Hut was acquired by Luxottica (NYSE: LUX) in 2001.

Hauslein has served on several public and private company boards and several philanthropic boards, including the Boys Club of New York, the Jamestown Foundation in Washington, D.C., the American Swiss Foundation, the Chairman's Council of Conservation International in Washington, D.C., and the Pine School in Hobe Sound, Florida.

“As a private pilot, I’m very excited to join AOPA’s Board of Trustees. I look forward to working with CEO Craig Fuller and the rest of the board to help grow general aviation and help keep flying accessible and affordable,” said Hauslein.
