Other Aviation Groups

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association is the largest civil aviation organization in the world, representing the broad spectrum of general aviation. There are numerous other trade and membership organizations with narrower focuses and representing other portions of the aviation industry. Below are links to several other aviation groups’ online newsrooms.

The Air Transport Association is a trade association representing the interests of U.S. airlines.

The Experimental Aircraft Association is a membership organization representing those who build and fly aircraft in the experimental category, as well as those who restore and fly vintage and warbird aircraft. The experimental category includes homebuilt and kitbuilt aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Association is charged by the United States Congress with regulating all aviation activity. The FAA publishes a particularly useful document called the Administrator’s Factbook.

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association is a trade organization representing most of the general aviation aircraft and original equipment manufacturers. GAMA’s online newsroom includes useful information on aircraft sales and economic impact.

The International Air Transport Association is a trade organization represents the interests of international airlines.

The National Agricultural Aviation Association represents aerial applicators, more commonly known as cropdusters.

The National Air Transportation Association is a trade organization representing charter aircraft operators, fixed base operators (airport-based aviation businesses), and flight schools.

The National Business Aviation Association is a trade organization representing companies that have flight departments or that use aircraft in support of their core business.

The National Transportation Safety Board is charged by the United States Congress to investigate transportation accidents, including aviation, and examine other transportation safety issues.

The Regional Airline Association is a trade organization representing the interests of U.S. regional airlines.
