Training and Safety

Training group calls for ‘best practices’

A national training group is collecting examples of the best ways to teach pilots. There are as many ways to teach flying as there are good instructors. And, every good instructor develops special ways to guide students toward becoming safe and competent pilots instead of simply accumulating hours to a minimum standard.

Until now, it has been nearly impossible for instructors to share such personal training techniques beyond the local flight line. The International Association of Flight Training Professionals is helping to change this.

IAFTP is building a global database of pilot training best practices covering beginning training through airline instruction. Instructors can submit their own personal training practices for viewing by their peers around the world. Selected training practices will then be reviewed and posted to SKYbrary, a source of aviation safety information online.

To submit your own personal training practice, go online.
