Rebates for AOPA members’ aviation purchases now exceed $2 million through AOPA FBO Rebate Program

As part of AOPA efforts to help reduce the cost of flying, AOPA members have received more than $2 million in rebates to date on AOPA credit card purchases of fuel, maintenance, flight training, aircraft rentals, and pilot supplies at qualifying FBOs.

AOPA members have received rebates on more than 72,000 monthly credit card statements under the AOPA FBO Rebate Program. The average monthly participant is saving over $300 a year, more than seven times his or her annual $39 AOPA dues.

The AOPA FBO Rebate Program returns a 3 percent rebate on purchases made with an AOPA Visa or Mastercard at any FBO that sells fuel or rents aircraft. Qualified locations include those listed with a 3% icon in AOPA’s Airport Directory or AOPA’ Airport Directory Online.

Participants merely highlight eligible purchases on their monthly credit card statement, mail the statement to a special MBNA America Bank address, and then receive the rebate as a credit on their next statement.

New recently is the ability to fax the submission to MBNA America Bank, further expediting the rebate process.

The average rebate is $28 per month when a rebate is claimed. Some 125,000 individuals carry an AOPA Visa or Mastercard.

As an AOPA Certified Program, any purchase using the AOPA credit card returns a small royalty for AOPA programs to defend and strengthen general aviation, programs such as AOPA Project Pilot and the AOPA Airport Support Network.

The AOPA credit card is the only card program that supports general aviation with every purchase and provides a rebate on aviation purchases at qualifying FBOs.

The AOPA FBO Rebate Program is funded entirely by MBNA America Bank in recognition of the group buying power of AOPA’s 350,000 members. Neither AOPA member dues nor any FBO contribution funds the rebates.

AOPA is the world’s largest general aviation organization, this year celebrating its sixtieth year of helping keep general aviation productive, safe, affordable, and fun.

The FBO Rebate Program is one of the ways AOPA is working to help reduce the cost of flying.
