Montana airport managers support AOPA security recommendations
The Montana Airport Managers Association has endorsed AOPA's recommendations to improve general aviation security. At the Montana Aviation Conference held earlier this month, the members approved a resolution urging the Department of Transportation and the Transportation Security Administration to consider the recommendations AOPA and other aviation groups made in December for reasonable approaches to general aviation security.
"It is great to get the support of airport managers for practical ways to enhance security for general aviation," said AOPA Senior Vice President of Government and Technical Affairs Andy Cebula. "Like AOPA, the Montana Airport Managers Association recognizes the need for security measures that accommodate general aviation, and we appreciate their support."
The Montana Airport Managers Association also encouraged federal officials to work with airports in developing functional and customer-friendly enhancements, as well as considering the economic impact security measures would have on airlines, airports, general aviation, and the aviation industry. Given the importance to national security, the airport managers suggested that the federal government pay for any mandated security measures.
