Sen. Inhofe 'holds on' for GA

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today placed a "hold" on the Aviation Security Improvement Act (S.2949). He did that to block an onerous provision added to the bill by Sen. John Breaux (D-La.) that would prevent the TSA and FAA from issuing waivers to the stadium TFR notam 2/0199. AOPA Legislative Affairs staff on Capitol Hill report that Inhofe's action effectively stalls the bill, which was scheduled to pass the Senate by unanimous consent. On the House side, members of the aviation subcommittee have objected to Rep. Fred Upton's (R-Mich.) legislation that would ban the TSA and FAA from issuing waivers to the stadium TFR. They wrote to Appropriations Committee Chairman Bill Young (R-Fla.), asking him to exclude Upton's legislation from any temporary funding bills.
