Apr. 8, 2004 AOPA Member Products partner MBNA America Bank, N.A., the issuer of the AOPA credit card with the 5% FBO Rebate and 5% Sporty's discount, has come up with a new way for AOPA members to save money while supporting general aviation. It's called the AOPA WorldPoints credit card, and it offers free travel and merchandise, as well as cash back.
"This is the perfect card for pilots who don't get to fly often enough to take full advantage of AOPA's 5% FBO Rebate credit card," said AOPA Senior Vice President of Products and Services Karen Gebhart. "With the new credit card, cardholders earn points for every dollar they spend in purchases and can redeem them for a wide variety of rewards."
Unlike many airline miles cards, the AOPA WorldPoints credit card has no annual fee, and the travel rewards are redeemable on any major U.S. airline with no blackout dates, as well as cruises, hotel stays, and car rentals. Or if they prefer, cardholders may redeem points for cash rewards and it's truly cash back. With the WorldPoints card, you also get access to WorldPoints AssistSM. This is a unique personalized concierge service that lends a helping hand to make special dining arrangements, get great seats at entertainment and sporting events, deliver a delicious birthday cake to a loved one, and much more.
There's no annual limit on the number of points a cardholder can earn. Merchandise rewards begin with as little as 2,500 points, while air rewards and cruise discounts begin at only 25,000 points. And best of all, a portion of each purchase goes to support AOPA's mission of protecting the interests of general aviation.
