Southwest Airlines will not be starting service at Boeing Field King County International after King County Executive Ron Sims rejected the proposal this week. AOPA had written Sims in August, asking him to preserve and protect the general aviation nature of the airport when considering the addition of airline service. GA represents more than 75 percent of the airport's operations, and about two thirds of the 430 fixed-wing airplanes at the airport are single-engine aircraft. AOPA also had offered to help the county keep the airport accessible, affordable, and efficient for GA users.
