AOPA takes airport message to FAA conference

Last week, AOPA Vice President of Airports Bill Dunn spoke to attendees at the fourteenth annual FAA Southwest Regional conference in Dallas. The conference is attended by airport managers, consultants, and FAA staff members from five states. Dunn gave attendees firsthand examples of the association's experiences and advocacy efforts in dealing with airport closure and land-use encroachment issues. He stressed the importance of an airport sponsor having a detailed airport land-use plan in place so that residential development does not occur right up to the airport's fence. Dunn also updated the audience on the successful Airport Watch Program, a partnership between AOPA and the Transportation Security Administration.
