Governor grants funding for New Mexico airports

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson signed into law a measure that allows money from the state's general fund to be transferred into the aviation fund for airport planning purposes and program administration, construction, equipment, maintenance, and navigation aids. The law goes into effect July 1 and allocates $1 million the first year, $2 million the second year, and $3 million every year after that to the aviation fund. AOPA actively supported this bill, and AOPA President Phil Boyer wrote to the governor March 20, encouraging him to sign the legislation.
