Urge your senator to vote no on Michigan sales and use tax

Aviation services should be exempt from the sales and use tax extension. But the Michigan Senate will be voting on two bills that already passed the House that would extend Michigan's sales and use tax to include services. AOPA reported on our opposition to House Bill 5196 last week. In a fast-moving legislative session leading to the state's budget deadline of Oct. 1, the House has now quickly adopted two new measures that would raise a variety of sales and use taxes, including ones on aviation. Since House Bills 5254 and 5255 were changed to add these new taxes, the association is again urging members to contact their state senator to tell them to exempt any new tax or tax increase before voting occurs.
