Pilot support needed to eliminate aviation sales tax in PA
Pilots know flying is expensive enough, without having to pay state sales taxes on purchasing or maintaining an aircraft. In Pennsylvania, legislators are getting that message: If aviation is going to grow in the commonwealth, then the legislature needs to eliminate the aviation sales tax on aircraft sales, repairs, maintenance, and parts. That's the message AOPA and the Pennsylvania aviation community delivered on Oct. 3, when Sen. Roger Madigan chaired a meeting of the Senate Transportation Committee to learn how eliminating those taxes would affect aviation in the commonwealth. AOPA testified at the hearing and encourages you to contact your senator if he or she serves on the committee. Ask him or her to eliminate the tax and support aviation in Pennsylvania. AOPA wrote to thank the chairman for having a hearing on this important issue and to urge him to support efforts to eliminate the tax.
