AOPA seeks support for land acquisition

AOPA is asking Illinois lawmakers to help Lake in the Hills Airport get the land it needs to widen its runway, move a taxiway and apron, and relocate a road. The changes are needed to comply with FAA safety standards. In an April 23 letter to Illinois Speaker of the House Michael Madigan, AOPA asks lawmakers to support S.B.2501, a bill that would give the Village of Lake in the Hills quick-take eminent domain rights for one year, allowing the village to acquire the last piece of land needed for the improvements. If Lake in the Hills can get the land, construction is slated to begin this summer.
