City proposes restrictions at Van Nuys

Because of a seven-year plan to reduce noise levels at Van Nuys Airport—the busiest general aviation airport—city officials are proposing to restrict certain types of aircraft. AOPA is reviewing the proposal to determine the affect this would have on aircraft operations. Los Angeles World Airports has scheduled a public meeting to describe the proposal and take comments. The meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Van Nuys FlyAway upstairs conference room at 7610 Woodley Ave. “AOPA will represent the GA community any time restrictions are discussed, including next week’s meeting,” said Heidi Williams, AOPA senior director of airports. Pilots can submit written comments by Nov. 17 to: Karen Hoo, Environmental Planning, Los Angeles World Airports, 7301 World Way West, 3rd Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
