Military training planned near Anchorage

Pilots who fly in the Anchorage area will need to be extra vigilant from Dec. 8 through Dec. 12 while the U.S. Air Force conducts training in the area. Large formations of as many as six C-17 cargo aircraft will be flying at altitudes below 4,000 feet in the Anchorage Bowl and Susitna Valley and below 2,000 feet within R-2203. Each formation will extend up to 4.3 nautical miles. The exercise is designed to train pilots for deployment overseas. For more details, see the chart of times and locations.
