'The Aviators' enters sixth season

The award-winning weekly TV seriesThe Aviators enters its sixth season this fall with a premiere episode that will star Jessica Cox, a sport pilot who was born without arms, and an aircraft profile of the Pitts Special.

In addition to airing on broadcast TV on many PBS stations, the new season will premiere Oct. 24 on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Instant Video, and VUDU by Walmart.

The show’s season opener, which will follow Cox as she lands an airliner and highlight the Pitts Special as “the first aircraft designed specifically for aerobatics,” will be free to viewers watching the show on iTunes.

“Season pass holders on iTunes will immediate[ly] receive exclusive bonus material—Director’s Commentary with Anthony Nalli. For the first time ever, viewers will get to witness some great insight from the show’s creator,” said a news release about the new season.

Upcoming episodes will feature some Soviet-era jet fighter flying in “L-39 and Upset Recovery” and offer a look at the Rusty Pilots Initiative as it attempts “to re-ignite every pilot’s fire by helping former flyers in their return to the sky.”
