| Pilot’s family sues Piper Aircraft |
| The family of a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University who was killed in a 2018 airplane crash is suing Piper Aircraft. The family alleges the company knew of structural failures in the Piper PA-28 aircraft since 1987 but failed to warn pilots or owners. Zack Capra died in April 2018 while taking his commercial pilot checkride when the left wing of the PA-28 separated from the airplane. Designated Pilot Examiner John Azma also died in the crash. Piper has declined to comment on the lawsuit, according to the St. Augustine Record. |
