The Giving Back Program was created to show the AOPA Foundation’s appreciation for all the good work being done through GA. The staff of the AOPA Foundation and the Grant Review Committee gratefully thank all of the organizations that applied for funds and wish everyone luck on their 2013-2014 programs.

Generous donations to the AOPA Foundation make it possible for us to fund the important work of preserving the freedom to fly. But the AOPA Foundation can’t do it alone. There are thousands of organizations doing great work through general aviation. The GA community participates in extensive charitable efforts, including disaster response, medical relief flying, and transportation provided by volunteer pilots.

With so much competition for resources, funding can be difficult to acquire. Every dollar needs to be maximized and leveraged. That’s why we’ve created a new program to show our appreciation for all the good work being done through GA. We call it, simply enough, “Giving Back.” This new program allows us to put funds in the hands of groups who are doing amazing things through GA.

The Giving Back Program will:

  • Award grants of up to $10,000 to nonprofit groups that perform charitable work through GA.
  • Award flight training scholarships to individuals who want to learn to fly or pursue aviation careers.

We’ll ask the organizations we fund to spread the word about the good work they do and the role general aviation plays in those efforts. In return, we’ll use our own far-reaching communications channels to tell the heartwarming stories of these wonderful charities. Individuals who receive the flight training scholarships are natural ambassadors for general aviation who can inspire others to achieve their own aviation goals.

Join us and “give back” by donating to the AOPA Foundation to help support our new Giving Back program.
