ASF offers extra incentives for Flight Instructor Refresher Course
Jan. 21, 2004 - Flight instructors now have even more reason to attend one of the Air Safety Foundation's refresher courses. ASF will give away several door prizes during each course. And those who attend will also be entered in a monthly drawing for an interactive DVD video courses, donated by Sporty's Pilot Shop.
"These door prizes are more than just enticements to bring flight instructors to the in-person refresher courses," said ASF Executive Director Bruce Landsberg. "These tools will help instructors teach more effectively."
The door prizes to be given away at each session include two copies of a video specifically designed to help flight instructors with the business side of being a flight instructor and an ASF video on a critical safety topic, Weather Decision Making.
Two monthly prizes are Sporty's Instrument Rating Course and a Sporty's Recreational/Private Pilot Course. Each course is a complete training program that instructors can use with their students to become safer and more knowledgeable and is valued at approximately $200 each. Two monthly winners will be selected from among those who attended the ASF in-person Flight Instructor Refresher Courses that month.
The refresher courses are open to all pilots, even if they do not hold a certificated flight instructor (CFI) rating. "In the same way that instrument training can help a VFR pilot hone skills, a refresher course for instructors can offer insights to all pilots that can improve their flying skills," said Landsberg.
For pilots concerned about safety, ASF offers hundreds of free safety seminars and online courses. Pilots who attend the free seminars are eligible to win the quarterly door prize, a handheld aviation radio, also provided by Sporty's Pilot Shop.
