American Weather Concepts announces system upgrades to its aviation weather and Flyte Trax services

JULY 7, PITTSBURGH -- American Weather Concepts, Inc. (AWC), a technology leader in providing customized weather services and aviation information on the Internet, is announcing today significant upgrades to its aviation weather sections and to its flight tracking service, Flyte Trax.

In AWC's AvCast section of their web-site, ( www.weatherconcepts.com), aviators may now receive decoded Terminal Aerodome Forecasts (TAFs). In this one-of-a-kind service, the user inputs an airport's three or four letter identifier, selects the TAF option from the comprehensive list of other aviation products that include surface observations, notams, sigmets, airmets, forecasts, and submits a query. A few seconds later selections will appear in an easy to read, printable format that can later be used for flight planning purposes.

"Pilots are dependent on reliable and up-to-the-minute weather information for their flight planning needs," said Scott Breit, AWC president. "The new decoded TAF service allows pilots to receive all the necessary flight planning information without wasting time deciphering the abbreviated text. This upgrade is another step towards AWC's commitment of offering the aviation community a professional and reliable weather service online."

Flyte Trax, a flight-tracking package developed by Flyte Comm of Florida and only found on AWC's site, has been upgraded to version 2.0. The new version allows for a greater selection of commuter flights, as well as commercial, while increasing its ability of handling a much higher volume of requests.

"These improvements are all part of our continuing effort to improve the accessibility of this real-time flight information," says Larry Mosher, president of Flyte Comm of Florida. "Version 2.0 is a giant leap for the system and all of AWC's users should see a significant improvement to an already great product."

AWC, located in Pittsburgh, is a privately owned weather operations company serving various industries including aviation, wireless communications, power generation, travel, recreation and agriculture. Subscriptions to their web-site costs $8.00 per month [note: AOPA members receive a 20% discount] for unlimited downloads, but the Flyte Trax system is freely accessible for all Internet users. Their web-site is located at www.weatherconcepts.com and it offers a 14 day free trial for every user. They can be reached at 412-635-0667 or 954-739-9900.
