Has a drone (FAA refers to them as UAS) brought you to the world of flying? Have you been flying for years and now added “drones” to your stable? Are you one of the many pilots who use drones for work? Either way, you love your way of flying and we get it. You want to keep flying. That’s your priority. AOPA has been helping to keep aircraft owners and pilots flying since 1939.
Several decades after AOPA opened it's doors, we developed its Legal Services Plan, now included with Pilot Protection Services (PPS), which provides legal representation for alleged violations of FAA regulations, State and Local flight rules, and more.
As a pilot and an aircraft/UAS owner, you are eligible for both AOPA membership and Pilot Protection Services. This package includes an AOPA membership and enrollment in AOPA’s Pilot Protection Services (PPS*) which provides legal representation through AOPA's Legal Services Plan.
Unplanned things can happen to pilots and aircraft-including UAS, and when something doesn’t go right during your flight or you make a minor mistake, the FAA could impose civil penalties or even suspend or revoke your pilot certificate. And, that’s why we feel strongly AOPA membership plus PPS Basic Coverage is essential for you.
Your membership will include PPS Basic Coverage providing you with aviation-related legal services through AOPA's Legal Services Plan should you need them, based on your operation of a UAS for hobby/recreational use or commercial use, including benefits such as:
Whether you are flying your UAS for work or pleasure, Keep flying. Keep enjoying your aircraft. We’ve got you covered.
*PPS includes membership in AOPA’s Legal Services Plan. Additional coverage available with PPS Plus for added premium. See Plan description at aopa.org/pps for complete coverages, exclusions, and limitations.
