May 7, 2004 — The grand prize in AOPA's Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes is safely ensconced at Sebastian Communication in Merritt Island, Fla., for a complete panel makeover in time for the 14th annual AOPA Fly-In and Open House. The better-than-new 1965 Piper Twin Comanche will be the star attraction in a static display area boasting some three dozen aircraft. The AOPA Fly-In, scheduled this year for Saturday, June 5, has become the largest one-day general aviation event on the East Coast.
Plans for the new panel include a full Garmin avionics stack, including the CNX-80, the first certified WAAS-enabled GPS unit; a PMA8000 audio panel and PAV80 entertainment system with AM/FM radio, CD, and DVD — and two LCD screens for the passengers from PS Engineering; an S-Tec three-axis autopilot; a Honeywell/Bendix-King KI-825 EHSI; and a J.P. Instruments engine analyzer/fuel totalizer.
The grand prize will be given away early next year, but you may not have to wait that long to be a winner! Each month, AOPA is giving away nearly 200 prizes, including eyeglass lanyards, T-shirts, and AOPA Zulu watches and leather flight jackets from Sporty's Pilot Shop.
Anyone who joins or renews membership in AOPA during 2004 is automatically entered in the Win-A-Twin Sweepstakes. Members can earn additional entries by referring someone who then becomes a member. Complete rules, eligibility requirements, and alternate methods of entry are available online.
