The Alamo

No matter where your home airport is, AOPA Online has a weekend destination for you. Postcards Online's latest destinations are San Antonio, Texas (Central), The Flying W Ranch near Philadelphia (East), and Boise, Idaho (West). There's more to San Antonio than the Alamo. While this site of courageous American heroism is well worth visiting, the Alamo is just one of many gems of Spanish colonial architecture and history in the area. San Antonio is also an aviator's town, with an enormous military presence and interesting military aviation museums. The Flying W Ranch is a true fly-in resort complete with an airplane-shaped swimming pool! There's also golf, live music, and special events at this sprawling resort on its own grass strip just outside Philadelphia. One of the west's best-kept secrets, Boise is friendly and laid-back. There are three great airports convenient to the downtown and the area's attractions, which include the Warhawk Air Museum and Idaho Military History Museum. AOPA Online's Postcards Online is a monthly collection of travel sites designed for the general aviation pilot and customized to the region that you live in. Delivered once a month via AOPA ePilot, Postcards Online is a partnership between AOPA Pilot magazine and Flyguides, a comprehensive online general aviation resource that spotlights the best places to fly in the United States.
