Nationwide flight training organization Airline Transport Professionals has assumed the flight training portion of Arizona State University’s professional aviation degree program .
ATP’s most recent college degree partner was West Virginia-based Mountain State College. But after the college lost its accreditation earlier this year, ATP went looking for a new partner. In ASU they found a healthy program that used to be paired with Mesa Airlines.
The program began this fall, and was officially launched with an event and reception Oct. 2. Most of the 200 attendees were current program students. There are 180 students in the professional pilot major, 180 in the air traffic control major, and 60 in the airport management major.
The school’s flight training will take place at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
