Student pilot loses wheel on solo, lands safely
A 17-year-old student pilot landed safely Sept. 9 after her airplane lost a wheel while departing Beverly Regional Airport in Beverly, Massachusetts. The pilot’s flight instructor and officials in the airport tower guided her through the landing and provided support until she felt comfortable executing the landing, according to the Boston Globe. She had intended to fly the Piper PA-28 to Portland, Maine.
N.H. flight school celebrates one year with more students, CFIs
CHI Aerospace in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, has entered its second year of business with a bigger roster of students and more flight instructors, according to SeacoastOnline.com. Operations Manager Ryan Tingley said the flight school has about 50 students who are seeking sport and private pilot certificates. The school’s fleet includes an RV12, a Beech Sundowner, a FlightDesign CTLS, an Ercoupe with no rudder pedals, and an Alpha 160A, used for advanced stall and spin training.
