FAA completing clearance delivery modernization effort
The June 20 issue of the chart supplement included a new batch of air traffic control facility phone numbers that pilots can call to receive or cancel IFR clearances. The agency is ending the practice of flight service "relaying" clearances to pilots from ATC. READ MORE ›
AOPA announces 2019 high school scholarship winners
Eighty high school students and 20 teachers have won scholarships of $10,000 each in AOPA’s 2019 You Can Fly High School Flight Training Scholarship program. Scholarship recipients will be able to use the money for direct flight training expenses to pursue a primary pilot certificate. READ MORE ›
Virginia flight school receives AOPA Presidential Citation
Aviation Adventures, headquartered in Manassas, Virginia, celebrated 30 years in business in June and was the recipient of an AOPA Presidential Citation in recognition of its impact on flight training. AOPA Air Safety Institute Executive Director Richard McSpadden presented the award to Aviation Adventures owner Bob Hepp. Aviation Adventures has locations in Leesburg, Warrenton, and Stafford, and was the 2012 AOPA Flight Training Outstanding Flight School.
FBO fees published in AOPA Airport Directory
A new tool in the AOPA Airport Directory is the first step toward a one-stop portal for pilots and fixed-base operators in the quest for fee transparency at airports. FBOs can enter their fees into the directory and pilots can access that information for free. READ MORE ›
