Report cites metal fatigue in 2018 Piper Arrow crash
The probable cause of the crash that killed the two occupants of a Piper PA-28R-201 after a wing separated from the airplane in Daytona Beach, Florida, in April 2018 was determined to be metal fatigue cracking associated with flight training maneuvers and frequent landing cycles, according to a final accident report from the NTSB. The accident occurred while a designated pilot examiner and a commercial pilot applicant were taking a practical test. READ MORE ›
Bahamian bottleneck slows relief efforts
The airports and airspace around Grand Bahama Island and the Abaco Islands have become so congested with well-meaning relief flights after Hurricane Dorian that aviation authorities are pleading for pilots to follow procedures. An alarming number of arrivals did not follow prescribed procedures to obtain authorization. The Abaco and Grand Bahamas islands bore the brunt of the storm's wrath. READ MORE ›

Moody Bible Institute sued over airplane crash
The widow of a pilot killed in an airplane crash in 2018 is suing Moody Bible Institute, alleging that the college failed to maintain the aircraft before the accident. The Cessna 172 broke apart in midair, killing all three occupants, including Moody student Joochan "Austin" Lee. Lee's wife Yuki filed a lawsuit in Spokane County Superior Court alleging that the college "negligently failed to service, maintain and upgrade the plane according to the manufacturer’s instructions," the Spokane, Washington, Spokesman-Review reported.
