What's behind the FAA's switch from 'student' to 'learner'? |
When the FAA announced that the 2020 update of the Aviation Instructor's Handbook would drop the terms “student” and “cockpit” in favor of “learner” and "flight deck" in the text, many aviators asked whether the changes would appear in other handbooks now in revision, and what was behind the move. The short answer is yes, the terminology will be updated throughout FAA documents.

AOPA opposes FAA's new rule on pilot records |
AOPA raised concerns over the FAA's proposal of an electronic database intended to replace the longstanding Pilot Records Improvement Act (PRIA) for air carriers and to verify certification, training, and currency of pilots. AOPA and other aviation organizations believe that the Pilot Records Database (PRD) described in a notice of proposed rulemaking will place an undue burden on many individual pilots.

Oregon flight school opens second location to teach high schoolers |
A Medford, Oregon, flight school is opening a second location that will train high school students from two local charter schools. Blue Raven Aviation will teach students from Crater Lake Academy and REACH Charter School in a program at Rogue Valley International Medford Airport (KMFR). The program may be expanded to other area high schools in the future, according to Fox 26.
