Industry groups urge SFAR extension
Aviation groups are urging an extension of the special federal aviation regulation that provided limited relief for aircraft owners, pilots, and operators facing pressure to comply with regulatory deadlines amid the COVID-19 pandemic. FAA warns against illegal charter operations
The FAA issued an informational letter to pilots on May 22 warning about a trend in the industry toward using cell phones and computer apps to set up air transportation by connecting potential passengers to aircraft owners and pilots. The agency warned pilots to watch out for pitfalls that could put them in violation of the federal aviation regulations. READ MORE ›
Embry-Riddle to resume face-to-face instruction June 30
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University announced May 22 that its Prescott, Arizona, and Daytona Beach, Florida, campuses will resume face-to-face instruction on June 30. ERAU listed a number of precautions that will be in place when students return to campus, including the limiting of classroom capacity to ensure physical distancing; prescreening of returning students for risk factors; mandatory face coverings in all common areas indoors and outdoors; and limited residence hall occupancy and density.
New aircraft deliveries down as pandemic takes hold
Shipments of general aviation aircraft opened the first quarter of 2020 in dynamic fashion but faded to double-digit declines as the economy collided with the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report from the General Aviation Manufacturing Association. The 219 piston airplanes delivered marked a decline of 11.7 percent compared to the first quarter of 2019. READ MORE ›
Bluetail launches digital recordkeeping service
Bluetail announced May 21 a new service that scans and digitizes aircraft maintenance and other records and serves as a content management system with archiving capabilities. Bluetail was formed by Stuart Illian, a former executive at training firm ProFlight. READ MORE ›

A "get back in the air" workshop, complete with coffee, donuts, and FAA Wings credit, would be a great way to help them spur their interest in a new certificate or rating, or just make sure they're ready to act as pilot in command.
