Pistons continue to prop up aircraft market |
While the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the aviation industry as a whole, piston aircraft sales bucked the trend with a third-quarter uptick. The General Aviation Manufacturers Association released another quarterly report of aircraft deliveries November 18, marking a continuation of painful trends that have hamstrung business jet and turboprop sales, and COVID-19 got most of the blame for double-digit declines in most sectors.

N.Y. flight school EnCore Aviation acquires Prior Aviation Services |
EnCore Aviation, based in Rochester, New York, has acquired Prior Aviation Services. The company’s Buffalo flight school will be EnCore’s third location, according to a report in the Niagara Gazette. Owner Todd Cameron told WKBW.com that the Buffalo location will be updated with flight simulators and modern aircraft with glass cockpits. EnCore also locations in Rochester and Niagara Falls.

Lori Curless, who runs the airport and flight school at Crawfordsville (Indiana) Regional Airport, discovered AOPA's "You Can Fly: Your Path to Become a Pilot" special edition of Flight Training magazine during a recent visit to another airport. Now, there's a countertop display in her flight school. "It is an amazing resource for those seriously looking to get flying," she said. "I think it'll be very beneficial for those looking to get into the pilot seat." One-day fly-in, drive-in to replace January Sport Aviation Showcase |
The DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase in Florida that was originally planned for November 12 to 14 and postponed until January 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic has been delayed again until November 2021, organizer Jana Filip confirmed. Instead, a one-day event will take place in January.
