CDC mask mandate prompts questions
Some general aviation operations are clearly exempt from the federal order mandating masks throughout much of the transportation system; however, AOPA is having frequent conversations with the FAA and other agencies about some of the specifics. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced January 29 that wearing a mask that covers the nose and mouth is mandatory, effective February 1, throughout the transportation system.

FSANA reschedules annual meeting to August
The Flight School Association of North America (FSANA) announced that it has rescheduled its annual meeting, originally set for March, to August 18 through 20. The venue, Rosen Plaza in Orlando, Florida, remains unchanged. FSANA said the decision to reschedule came after discussions with association members, suppliers, government officials, and hotel management. The new date offers participants an opportunity to receive early bird registration discounts. See the website for additional information.
FAA explains alternate compliance for Piper wing spar
Owners of Piper PA–28 and PA–32 airplanes who had their aircraft inspected for wing spar cracking before an airworthiness directive issued in January made the inspections mandatory may still have some paperwork to do to show compliance with the AD.
