| Airline hiring hits record high |
| The airline hiring numbers from January to May are in, and they have already surpassed 2021 as the best year on record for pilot hiring since 2000. In the past five months, airline hiring has reached 5,526, according to Future and Active Pilot Advisors. In 2021, total hiring was 5,426. "If you are a pilot, you are finding a job," said Sam Scanlon, managing partner for aviation consultant JSfirm.com.

| Aircraft registration relief on the way |
| The FAA agreed to begin issuing new aircraft owners what the agency is calling preemptive extensions to its 90-day temporary registrations until the processing backlog is reduced below 90 days. By mid-August, the agency expects to begin sending preemptive extensions to new owners of previously registered aircraft. AOPA staff has been working closely with agency officials to address a situation that has led to new registration applications taking up to six months to process.

| Bahamas lifts travel health visa requirement |
| The Bahamas is no longer requiring travelers to carry a Travel Health Visa to enter the country. The June 15 announcement from the Bahamian government stressed that all COVID-19 testing and vaccination protocols will remain in effect for now.

| Flight school announces merit-based financing program |
| AeroGuard Flight Training Center announced June 9 that it has partnered with financial company Meritize to provide merit-based financing for flight training. AeroGuard, with locations in Arizona, Florida, and Texas, offers a pilot pathway program to SkyWest, as well as individual ratings, rotor transition, and one-week add-on programs. Meritize said its lending programs take into account "the full breadth and depth of an individual's academic or military achievements to enhance credit evaluation and potentially improve loan options," according to a news release.
