Redbird opens Migration 2023 registration
Registration is open for Redbird Migration 2023, to be held April 11 through 12 at EAA Education Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The annual event, sponsored by Redbird Flight Simulations, provides flight training professionals with networking opportunities, presentations from industry leaders, and small group breakout sessions focused on providing solutions to real-world problems. This year's guest speakers include Joe Brown, chairman of Hartzell Propeller, and aerobatic pilot Sean D. Tucker. Attendance is free. Register online.
FAA extends expiration date of aircraft registration certificates
The FAA has extended the duration of aircraft registration certificates from three to seven years as of January 23. Temporary registration validity also was extended from 90 days to as long as one year for new applications. The FAA has a backlog of registration renewals of six months or longer, but the agency has been reducing the number from a high of more than 190 days before the holidays to 148 days as of late January. NAFI to host inaugural instructors' summit in October
The National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) will hold its inaugural flight instruction safety and business summit October 24 through 26 at the Sun ‘n Fun campus in Lakeland, Florida. The summit will bring together stakeholders in the flight instruction community to share tips, techniques, and best practices; relevant business skills; and networking opportunities. The summit will feature keynote speakers addressing the vital role of flight instructors, with an emphasis on continuous improvement in safety and customer service. NAFI said it will provide updates on registration in the next few months.
Embry-Riddle online programs receive new high marks
U.S. News & World Report has ranked Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University second in the nation for best online bachelor's program, and the university also received a second-place ranking for best online bachelor's programs for veterans. In addition to its campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Prescott, Arizona, the university’s online program enrolls 20,000 students in bachelor’s, master's, and doctoral degree programs. AOPA Air Safety Institute releases 'Beyond Proficient: Stabilized IFR Approach'
The AOPA Air Safety Institute released a new video in its Beyond Proficient video series that provides a unique perspective on how to fly safely in the departure, en route, and approach profiles under instrument flight rules. The video captures the critical phases of flying an instrument approach from approach clearance to landing or transitioning to a missed approach. It also offers practical tips on how to identify and deal with task saturation and regain situational awareness on the approach. View the video online.
