Airlines draw pilots from business aviation |
Big salaries, signing bonuses, and a strong recruiting presence at aviation colleges have more new pilots than ever flocking to the major airlines, while private business aviation faces a challenging new reality. Private and business aviation was once widely viewed as a career to keep until retirement, but that dynamic has shifted. It's more widely being viewed as a steppingstone to the airlines, and that has increased the pressure on companies like fractional ownership operator NetJets when attracting and retaining pilot talent.

FAA updates seaplane operation safety information |
The FAA issued an advisory circular that revises guidance on a range of operational and safety considerations for seaplane operations. AC 91-69A updates advice regarding preflight, oral briefings for passengers, safety belts and shoulder harnesses, escape and egress after capsizing procedures, water survival, and flotation gear for occupants.

CubCrafters goes infrared |
Aircraft designer and manufacturer CubCrafters announced it is integrating a thermal infrared camera option for improved situational awareness in low light and reduced visibility. The system will be fully integrated with the Garmin G3X avionics package, and it will work alongside Garmin's synthetic vision display. The infrared camera system is a $16,000 option for new experimental category CubCrafters aircraft.
