Community Open House & Fly-In
The event provides a unique opportunity for local citizens to come out to the airport walking out onto the airfield and see a lot of interesting airplanes, visit with aviation enthusiasts, and experience general aviation in an up-close and personal way. This way they get to actually become part of the Fly-In, say airport officials.
A number of activities are planned for the day, including: free food (donation requested but not required), airplane and helicopter rides including a, three place, open cockpit Biplane, sky-diving activity and remote control airplane displays, and demonstrations..
With a full day of food, fun, festivities and flying planned, the City of Palatka hopes to build on momentum gained from the past three events and expects between 2.000-2,500 visitors and 100-150 aircraft flying in from the surrounding GA airports in Northeast Florida, according to airport officials. “The last three events have been very successful in promoting GA to the local community and generating interest in the airport, which has undergone many improvements over the last five years,” officials add.
