It's a Girls’ Day Out at the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum as the Museum offers a Meet an Author event with Amy Nathan, celebrating the achievements of World War II women pilots and homefront workers. Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, youth group leaders are encouraged to bring their younger family and group members from 10 years old through college to share this intergenerational day of women’s history. From 11:30 am – 1pm, tour the Museum’s indoor and outdoor exhibits. At 1pm, the Museum’s special WWII program “Fill Shoes for Victory” will feature stories from Rosie the Riveters who will also be answering questions from visitors about their WWII experiences. At 2pm, Amy Nathan, author of Yankee Doodle Gals will be speaking about the Women Air Service Corp and their service as civilian pilots for the military, relieving men for overseas duty. Following her presentation, a joint partnership with the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center, Nathan will be selling and signing copies of her book. Located in Hangar 5 at Martin State Airport, the Museum is celebrating its 25th anniversary of Maryland aviation history preservation. Groups of 10 or more are requested to RSVP.
