AOPA's Project Pilot Instructor program now offers enrolled flight instructors professional career guidance and job search services at a 25-percent discount through Aviation Information Resources (AIR, Inc.) of Atlanta.
AOPA's new Project Pilot Instructor program is now the nation's largest program for CFIs, with nearly 4,000 instructors enrolled.
The program offers information and training aids for flight instructors and their students, plus a frequent flier-type rewards program based on the number of students being taught.
Now CFIs can get a discount from the nation's premier provider of professional career counseling and job search products and services. The staff at AIR, Inc., was among those in the 1980s who pioneered the concept of organized, professional job search skills and knowledgeable career guidance for future airline pilots and corporate flight crews.
Project Pilot offers CFIs a 25-percent discount on these AIR, Inc., services:
AIR, Inc., was founded by Kit Darby, formerly executive vice president and co-owner of the Future Aviation Professionals of America (FAPA).
Darby knows the pilot hiring game. He has interviewed 20 times with 16 different airlines in the process of getting hired with Braniff, Capitol Air, and Republic Airlines. He is currently a Chicago-based captain for United Airlines, flying Boeing 737s.
Project Pilot Instructor is a free program for CFI members of AOPA. CFIs get special training and motivational materials for themselves and for their students. Instructors earn increasingly valuable premiums and merchandise as the CFI's roster of students increases.
Each student also earns for the Project Pilot CFI a separate entry in AOPA's 1995 sweepstakes to win the First New 172 off the rejuvenated Cessna production line.
"This new benefit for CFIs — a 25-percent discount on AIR, Inc., career guidance, and job search assistance — is just part of AOPA's commitment to providing CFIs the best educational, business, and career resources available," said AOPA President Phil Boyer.
