Sectional charts are a wealth of information, and where appropriate, they even show changes in time zone. A small black dotted line separates two time zones, and if you follow this line to the top or bottom of the chart, you'll find the specifics of the two. In this example from the Wichita sectional, at a point north of Goodland, Kansas, the mountain time zone is north of the dotted line and the central time zone is to the south. To compute universal coordinated time (UTC, or Zulu) add six or seven hours to local time as appropriate. If daylight savings time is in effect, add the numbers in parentheses (+5DT or +6DT).
The Airport/Facility Directory does not give an airport's time zone, but it does give the UTC conversion information. For example, the UTC to local time conversion for Goodland reads "UTC-7(-6DT)." The A/FD uses UTC for all airport hours of operation - not local time. Because of this, you must subtract the numbers the A/FD gives from Zulu time.
