Seaplane Bases

Landing On Water
Flying a seaplane or float-equipped airplane can be a great adventure-one that isn't just for those who live near the coast. Seaplane bases are scattered throughout the country, even in the places you might least expect to find them, such as the Nebraska base shown above.

Seaplane bases are identified on sectional charts by magenta anchor symbols. The shaft of the anchor is approximately aligned with the primary landing lane for the base. As with any other landing site, seaplane bases are accompanied by information such as the site name and identifier, the elevation above mean sea level, and communications frequencies.
