Colorado pilot wins AOPA Air Safety Foundation transceiver prize

Howard Katz of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the winner of a Sporty's handheld transceiver after attending an AOPA Air Safety Foundation seminar.

Katz attended the "GPS for VFR Operations" seminar held in Colorado Springs in January.

This Air Safety Foundation seminar educates pilots of all skill levels on the use of GPS navigation in VFR flight. Through discussion of its advantages, disadvantages, traps, and tricks, pilots walk away with better knowledge of GPS and its capabilities.

Information and schedules for all ASF safety seminars can be found in the "AOPA Action" section of AOPA Pilot magazine and on AOPA Online.

The AOPA Air Safety Foundation is celebrating its fiftieth year of providing safety education and research to the general aviation community.

The majority of ASF funding comes from individual pilots' tax-deductible donations.
