FAA allows emergency flightsFAA allows emergency flights

The FAA is now allowing certain emergency and law enforcement flights into the air. The FAA's ATC Command Center (ATCSCC) has sent the following advisory to air traffic control centers:

ATCSCC ADVZY 007 09/12/2001 REQUESTS TO UTILIZE THE NATIONAL AIRSPACE SYSTEM

MESSAGE: THE ATCSCC ADVISES THAT SERVICING FAA ARTCC'S ARE AUTHORIZED TO RELEASE MEDICAL EMERGENCY, MILITARY, LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EMERGENCY EVACUATION FLIGHTS INTO THE NATIONAL AIRSPACE SYSTEM. OTHER ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL FLIGHT CLEARANCES IN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES ARE TO BE MADE THROUGH THE SERVICING FAA ARTCC ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. REQUESTS FOR UTILIZATION OF THE NATIONAL AIRSPACE SYSTEM MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  1. AIRCRAFT CALL-SIGN
  2. AIRCRAFT TYPE
  3. REASON FOR FLIGHT MISSION
  4. PROPOSED TIME OF DEPARTURE.
  5. ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL.
  6. ROUTE OF FLIGHT.
  7. BEACON CODE IF KNOWN.
  8. TIME OF REQUEST.

MILITARY FLIGHTS ARE TO PROCESS THEIR REQUESTS THROUGH THEIR NORMAL FLIGHT PLANNING PROCESS.

ALL FAA ARTCC'S ARE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN A LISTING OF ALL RELEASED FLGIHTS WITH BEACON CODES ASSIGNMENTS.
