A groundbreaking for new general aviation T-hangars on January 26 brought a ray of hope for beleaguered Austin, Texas-area GA pilots. The Austin area has lost two predominately GA airports in the past year, and the city's long-promised "equal or better" facilities for GA at the former Bergstrom Air Force Base had appeared to be at a dead end until last Friday's ground breaking. Austin Director of Aviation Chuck Griffith cited AOPA as a prime motivator for the new hangar construction.
